Water Sustainability

Water Sustainability

For my DES 151 - Type in Motion final project, I was required to create a 60-90 second video on sustainability. The California drought interested me, so I decided to delve a little deeper and take a look at ways we could conserve water.

Ideation first...

I began by brainstorming some ideas I had and drawing a quick storyboard. Then, I created two different mood boards. I knew I wanted to emulate a very simple yet powerful look. After, I proceeded with two style frames (pictured above). Color was important, so I ultimately opted for the color palette on the left but with the Futura font from the right.

What was I thinking?

I wanted the animations to be very fun and playful. Water is soluble, and so I decided to make water in various shapes and forms. I decided to be consistent with my usage of colors and kept the text teal. Different weights of Futura was used.

The goal...

Ultimately, I wanted to inform my audience on ways they could conserve water. By giving them a little bit of background information on how much water Californians use on average, I believe it would make them more mindful of their usage.

It was an exciting project to work on! I am still fairly new at After Effects, but feel as thought this project has been able to help me learn even more. Shoutout to Marc for teaching such an awesome course!
